Commentary | In the foreground, don Quixote, with dignity, and Sancho Panza, frightened and with his back turned on the viewer, mounted on Clavileño (with a peg on its forehead); both blindfolded.
Several servants with torches and a pair of bellows simulate Clavileño's flight. In the background, the Duke and Duchess observe them. Accurate detail: lance with a parchment "El ínclito Caballero Don Quixote de la Mancha feneció y acabó la aventura de la Condesa Trifaldi, por otro nombre [llamada la Dueña Dolorida y compañía con sólo intentarla]". |
