| Commentary | Scene first represented by Savery (Dordrecht: Savery, 1657).
Now, it has not been chosen the fight, but a previous and comical moment. Sancho's bray astonishes don Quixote and angers the members of the braying mayors squadron; "Uno de los que estaban junto a él, creyendo que hacía burla de ellos, alzó un varapalo" (27:2). Foreground figures' drawing and engraving are excellent. |
| Notes | 1 – Plate newly engraved in a reduced size by Van der Gucht after his own plate with Vanderbank’s design first engraved for London: Tonson, 1738. |
