| Commentary | Sancho is persecuted by Duke's servants who want to wash his beard with dirty water; the squire runs away looking for the Duchess' help.
Superb setting and composition; well-represented movement. On the left, the composition is opened with a deep perspective, but the light comes from the opposite side. Plate of great quality; masterly drawing, engraving, composition and setting. |
| Notes | 1 - Ashbee (art. 22) refers to a plate without date engraved by Aveline with the reference "Chez Dupuis". Maybe, it was engraved c. 1733-45 and, then, copied by Tanjé. |
