Commentary Well-known episode, but this instant had never been represented (the very explosion of Clavileño); great originality.
Clavileño blows up, throwing don Quixote and Sancho away while several servants protect themselves.
Masterly drawing and engraving to represent the explosion (light and shadow effects, sudden movement, figures "flying"...).
Excellent illustration of great expressive value.
Notes 1 - Plate dated in 1780.
2 - Same plate first engraved for Leipzig: Caspar Fritsch, 1780-81.
