Commentary | Don Quixote "enchanted" into a cage on an ox-cart; Sancho, after listening to his master's pray (not be left to perish in the cage before the fulfilment of the prophecy about Dulcinea's disenchantment) will kiss his hands.
Don Quixote's figure lacks any kind of expression (faraway look; madness?); he is wearing the barber basin (Mambrino's helmet). Sancho's figure is folkloristic. Remarkable coloring, quite impressionist. |
