Commentary | At Juan Palomeque's inn, the innkeeper, Sancho and the priest discover don Quixote attacking some wineskins with his sword; accurate to Cervantes' text, don Quixote, asleep, is wearing only his shirt, a night cap and has wrapped his arm with a blanket.
Well-known scene, but this illustration is specially remarkable; it has been resolved with violence and drama; notice the darkness of the scene, the light and shadow effects, don Quixote's violent movement, the wine represented almost as real blood... Worth-noting illustration and composition. |
