Commentary In Barataria Island, Sancho is not allowed to eat by Pedro Recio, who orders the servants to take away the dishes.
Since its representation by Coypel (Paris: Surugue, 1724), this scene is habitual in 18th century editions.
Now, the composition is quite different; more austere setting (clothes, architectures...)and less artificial.
On the right, Sancho, servants, the steward and the secretary.
On the left, just Pedro Recio (framed by and arch).
Drawing and engraving are excellent; very remarkable large size figures.
Notes 1 - Same plate used for London: Tonson, 1738.
