Commentary | At the Duke's palace, Altisidora, held by Emerencia, pretends to faint when she encounters don Quixote.
Don Quixote appears dressing his boots, scarlet cloak, green velvet cap and his sword belt; "y al pasar por una galería, estaban aposta esperándole Altisidora, y la otra doncella su amiga. Y así como Altisidora vio a Don Quijote, fingió desmayarse" (46:2). Simple and theatrical composition; it has been resolved accurately to Cervantes' text; original choice. Drawing and engraving are excellent and highly-detailed in the figures, but poor in the setting. |
