Commentary | Basilio, after pretending his suicide, asks for Quiteria's hand.
Camacho, one priest, don Quixote and Sancho Panza observe the scene. Bucolic setting. Well-known scene since Coypel (Paris: Surugue, c. 1724). In Coypel's composition, the main character was don Quixote, now Basilio and Quiteria are emphasized. Drawing and engraving are excellent. |
