| Commentary | Accurate composition to Cervantes' text. "En esta maldita cama se acostó Don Quixote, y luego la ventera, y su hija le emplastaron de arriba a abajo, alumbrándoles Maritornes" (16:1).
Innkeeper's wife and his daughter's figures are idealized, in contrast with Maritornes' caricature image. Sancho complains about his own pain too. Well-detailed drawing and engraving, with good light and shadow effects (produced by Maritornes' candle). |
