Commentary | "Sancho kissed her hands in grattitude, kneeling, and with the mitre in his hand".
After her fake resurrection, Altisidora thanks Sancho having let the dueñas pinch him and she gives him six shirts; Sancho, grateful, kneels before her. Also in the scene, the Duchess, the Duke, Rhadamantus (holding Altisidora), don Quixote, Minos, a boy playing the harp dressed up with Roman clothes and several servants and maidens observing the scene from the galleries of the palace. Remarkable variety of figures, gestures, accurate details (Sancho's clothes, catafalque...) and setting. The use of white and black contrasts is worth noting; excellent atmosphere. |
