Commentary | "Welcome, flower and cream of knight-errantry!;...".
Don Quixote arrives to the Duke's palace, where servants and maidens welcome him from the galleries; Sancho argues with doña Rodríguez after asking her to take care of his donkey (notice his gesture); don Quixote wears the cloak put by two maidens on his shoulders. Quite remarkable scene, with good variety of figures, gestures, actions... and detailed setting. Alpériz' drawing tries to keep the realistic/picturesque style used by José and Luis Jiménez Aranda for the first part. |
