Commentary | ".... began cutting such capers, that it flung the lady Dulcinea to the ground;...".
Trying to run away from don Quixote and Sancho, one of three peasant girls (the enchanted Dulcinea) falls from her donkey when it begins to kick. Scene resolved with small size figures; acceptable gestures. Alpériz's drawing tries to keeps the realistic/picturesque style used by José and Luis Jiménez Aranda for the first part; now, the shading is stronger, darker, and the setting and figures blurred. |
