Commentary | ".... and the people were all in the plaza, through which Don Quixote's cart passed".
Don Quixote, carried on an ox cart, arrives to his village with the barber, the priest and Sancho. Remarkable illustration, with good variety of figures and carefully-done setting. Great interest in representing real Spanish characters and accurate period clothes, setting and details. Realistic/picturesque style with good light and shadow effects. |
Notes | 1 – After José Jiménez Aranda’s death, his brother, Luis Jiménez Aranda, continued illustrating Don Quixote (part I) following a very similar realistic/picturesque style as the one used by his brother, but, sometimes, his figures lack naturalism. |
