Commentary ".... and seizing him by the throat with both hands would no doubt have throttled him, had not Sancho Panza that instant come to the rescue...".
Sancho preventing the goather Eugenio from strangling don Quixote; the priest, the barber and the canon of Toledo observe the scene; also in the illustration, Eugenio's goat.
Good figures, but their gestures and expressions lack certain naturalism.
Great interest in representing real Spanish characters and accurate period clothes and details.
Realistic/picturesque style with good light and shadow effects; notice the landscape. 
Notes 1 – After José Jiménez Aranda’s death, his brother, Luis Jiménez Aranda, continued illustrating Don Quixote (part I) following a very similar realistic/picturesque style as the one used by his brother, but, sometimes, his figures lack naturalism.
