Commentary | "The man shook him by the arm, and said: «Upon my word, señor don Luis,....»".
Don Luis discovered by the servants of his father at the inn stable. Acceptable figures, but lacking certain naturalism. Great interest in representing real Spanish characters and accurate period clothes, setting and details. Realistic/picturesque style with good light and shadow effects. |
Notes | 1 – After José Jiménez Aranda’s death, his brother, Luis Jiménez Aranda, continued illustrating Don Quixote (part I) following a very similar realistic/picturesque style as the one used by his brother, but, sometimes, his figures lack naturalism. |
