The ecclesiastic Alonso López begging don Quixote for his help. In the background, the bier with a coffin that the ecclesiastics were accompaning. Jiménez Aranda's drawing skill is masterly; remarkable light and shadow contrasts produced by the fallen torch. |
Notes | Great interest in representing real Spanish characters and accurate period 1 – Reproduction of the original sketch (Chinese ink and gouache white). Jiménez Aranda meant to paint a more-finished drawing after this sketch using natural sceneries and real models, but he died before completing the project.
2 - "... serie de originalísimos dibujos, en los que Aranda dió muestra de su imaginación.
