	Commentary	"... then turning about the rest, it was worth seeing with what agility he attacked and defeated them...". Don Quixote attacking a group of ecclesiastics while they run away, leaving the bier with a coffin that they were accompanying. Scene with well-resolved movement, disorden, action... Jiménez Aranda's drawing skill is masterly; remarkable use of light and shadow contrasts.
	Notes	1 – Reproduction of the original sketch (Chinese ink and gouache white). Jiménez Aranda meant to paint a more-finished drawing after this sketch using natural sceneries and real models, but he died before completing the project. 2 - "... serie de originalísimos dibujos, en los que Aranda dió muestra de su imaginación. [...] El aspecto fantástico y un tanto pavoroso de tal aventura, el número, confusión y diversidad de hombres y de caballos, y, sobre todo, la valentía pictórica con que están dados los efectos de luz, produciendo la sensación del brillo de las flameantes luces en la obscuridad que á veces, por estar caídos los hachones, alumbran á las figuras de abajo á arriba, avalora notablemente estos dibujos" (José Ramón Mélida: “Don José Jiménez Aranda y su "Quijote"", vol.
