	Commentary	"... your worship will take care, Señor Knight errant, not to forget about the island you have promised me...". Don Quixote, armed and mounted on Rocinante, with Sancho on his donkey beginning their first sally together (don Quixote's second sally); Sancho reminds him the promise of an island. Great interest in representing real Spanish characters and accurate period setting, clothes and details; realistic and picturesque. Jiménez Aranda's drawing skill is masterly; remarkable use of light and shadow with impressionist effects.
	Notes	1 – Reproduction of the original sketch (Chinese ink and gouache white). Jiménez Aranda meant to paint a more-finished drawing after this sketch using natural sceneries and real models, but he died before completing the project. 2 - "Lo que avalora esencialmente á todas ellas, lo mismo bocetos que dibujos del natural, es el espíritu con que viven y expresan la acción de los personajes de la novela; espíritu que suele revelarse por modo más espontáneo y vivo en los bocetos, y de aquí que haya quien los prefiera á los dibujos del natural.
