Commentary "He came to the place where the door used to be, and tried it with his hands,...".
Don Quixote touching the place where it used to be the door of his library, now walled and plastered.
Great interest in representing real Spanish characters and accurate period setting, clothes and details; realistic and picturesque.
Jiménez Aranda's drawing skill is masterly; remarkable use of light.
Notes 1 - The original drawing (Chinese ink and gouache white) was finished in 1900 in Sevilla and presented at the Universal Exposition of Paris (1900).
