Commentary | "And, putting one end to the knight's mouth:".
The innkeeper helps don Quixote to drink using a cane; the party girls, a young groom and some muleteers observe the scene; remarkable variety of expressions and gestures. Great interest in representing real Spanish characters and accurate period setting, clothes and details; realistic and picturesque. Jiménez Aranda's drawing skill is masterly; remarkable use of light. |
Notes | 1 - The original drawing (Chinese ink and gouache white) was finished in 1898 in Sevilla and presented at the Exposition of Fine Arts of Barcelona (1898).
