Commentary | Basilio, pretending to have stabbed himself, is attended by the priest, don Quixote and friends; Quiteria, seized by Camacho (wrapped in a black cloak), cries knelt before him.
Scene resolved with great drama; notice the female figure in white on the left. Excellent drawing and engraving; one of the most remarkable illustrations of this episode. The composition is based on the traditional representation of Lamentation over the Dead Christ. |
