Commentary | Don Quixote and Sancho encounter two friars of Saint Benedict on mules, wearing spectacles and holding parasols; after the friars, a coach with Basque ladies and grooms.
Very similar composition to illustration f.p. 32 ("DQ beaten by the groom of the silk merchants"); well-resolved and used landscape format. Excellent representation of Manchegan light effects, colors and austere landscape. Remarkable composition, drawing and coloring. |
