Commentary | In the foreground, Quiteria, richly dressed, takes Basilio´s hand; Basilio, "stabbed", is held by don Quixote; the priest marries them before Camacho, suspicious.
Basilio, accurate to Cervantes' text, "stabbed" with a "bastón con una punta de acero" (21:2). In the background, tables with food and Sancho eating. Good details: female figure that glances with curiosity between Camacho and the priest. Detailed engraving (trees, garlands...). |
Notes | 1 - Plate newly-engraved by A. Blanco with light changes after the illus. in Madrid: Ibarra, 1782. |
