Commentary | While don Quixote, standing, aims his sword against the face of the defeated Basque, lying on the ground, the Basque lady and Sancho beg the knight not to hurt the Basque.
Ricardo de los Ríos' drawing/etching style is excellent; his figures are more sketched by short lines than clearly-drawn. Composition and gestures lack naturality and life, too theatrical. Notice the desert setting (desolate) and the windmill with five sails (!). |
