Commentary | Don Quixote begins the vigil of his arms, walking before the well (pila) where he has put them.
The setting, as usual in this edition, is accurate to La Mancha architecture; austere and dry. The sky of the scene is quite remarkable; it is supposed to be nightfall light, but it looks more like a dark and stormy sky. |
Notes | It has been used a variety of chromolithography known as oleography to imitate an oil painting. |
