| Commentary | Excellent image of don Quixote reading chivalry novels; heiress of French and English Romanticism editions.
The image of don Quixote appears surrounded by elements of the reality (a wind-mill, Sancho and his donkey, books, the basin, his arms...) and from his fantasy (knights, dragon, castles, a giant's head...). The engraving is masterly; Sadurní proves to be a skilful wood engaver (see shading, diffusing effects and carefully-done details). |
