Commentary | Sancho is welcome to Barataria Island by the authorities; in the foreground, a man prepared to give him the keys of the Island; notice that the man is looking at the viewer and laughing.
Good group scene; Sancho's solemnity is comical. "VIVE DON SANCHO 1er GOUVERN..." written on an standard. Good drawing and engraving. Remarkable and highly-detailed ornamental frame; it includes the keys of Barataria, Sancho's Constitutions, letters to Teresa Panza, the collar sent by the Duchess and Sancho's dinner. |
