Commentary | Excellent and detailed portrait of the Duchess.
Usual in Houghton's illustration, it is represented the effect of some action (the Duchess laughing), but not the cause of that effect (Sancho persecuted by the Ducke's servants that want to wash his beard), causing a curiosity only satisfied by the text. Drawing and engraving are very remarkable; notice the representation of the dress, cushions... |
