Commentary | In Sierra Morena, don Quixote and Sancho encounter a portmanteau (Cardenio's) with some shirts and a book.
Don Quixote's figure is specially remarkable; notice his escorzo. Once more, Houghton represents the effect of something on the characters (Sancho looking into the portmanteau with curiosity) but not the cause (the shirts and book); that curiosity is only satisfied by the text. Drawing and engraving are excellent. |
