Notes | 1 - Acceptable copy after Tony Johannot's illustration for Paris: Dubochet, 1836-37.
2 - In 1836 edition, this illustration appears in chapter 47:1 (p. 674); in the current edition it has been moved to chapter 18:2, losing and changing its original meaning. 3 - Originally, it refers to the dialogue between the priest and the canon about chivalry novels and their writers; "Ya puede mostrarse astrólogo, ya cosmógrafo excelente, ya músico, ya inteligente en las materias de estado, y tal vez le vendrá ocasión de mostrarse nigromante, si quisiere" (47:1). |
