Commentary | The representation is placed in a page where there are refereces to several knights, real or literary: don Felixmarte of Hircania, don Cirongilio of Thrace, the Great Captain Gonzalo Hernández de Córdoba and Diego García de Paredes. Maybe, the portrait represents Diego García de Paredes, who stopped a whole army with his sword at the entry of a bridge.
Good example of Romanticism taste for legendary and medieval tales. |
