Commentary | Cervantes' portrait according to José del Castillo's design (Madrid: Ibarra, 1780) turned and in a new oval frame with his name underneath, laurel branches at each side and a phoenix above (Cervantes as "Phoenix of Wits", although this nickname belongs to Lope de Vega).
Drawing and engraving, despite some light fault, are very good. |
