| Commentary | Marstrand has not chosen the most previously represented moment of this episode (don Quixote defeating the Knight of the Mirrors), but a previous and more original instant that shows the tender relation between don Quixote and Sancho.
Don Quixote helps his squire to climb over a cork oak, while the Knight of the Mirrors awaits on the left background; also his squire, Tomé Cecial disguised with a big and fake nose. Marstrand's drawing, spontaneous and agile, is remarkable. |
| Notes | According to the Index included at the end of the volume, this illustration (Plate III) is rightly placed. |
