In the foreground, Sancho, riding his donkey and carrying don Quixote's lance, calls don Quixote to wait for him; in the background, don Quixote moves away with Rocinante at a gallop. Accurate to Cervantes' text: "Seguíale Sancho a todo el trote de su jumento; pero caminaba tanto Rocinante, que viéndose quedar atrás, le fue forzoso dar voces a su amo que se aguardase" (10:1). |
