Commentary | At night, in the inn courtyard, don Quixote, knelt and wearing his helmet, is knighted by the innkeeper, holding a book and a sword.
Doña Molinera, holding don Quixote's spurs, doña Tolosa and other figures observe the scene. Well-known composition in previous English editions. Drawing and engraving are acceptable, but with unequal quality. |
Notes | 1 - Copied after Stothard's illustration for London: C. Whittingham, 1809.
2 - Placed as frontispiece. |
