| Commentary | Cervantes' portrait sat at a table, holding a quill and writing.
In the background, a library with books behind a curtain. Drawing and engraving are quite acceptable, although the image results forced (notice the right hand, the face...). |
| Notes | 1 - Model of Cervantes' portrait designed by William Kent for London: Tonson, 1738; now, Cervantes' left hand is clearly-visible.
2 - The window with don Quixote and Sancho in the background has not been copied and Cervantes' figure has been turned. 3 - Jacob Folkema engraved this portrait in 1739 for an edition of the Novelas Ejemplares (Haya: J. Neaulme, 1739). |
