Commentary | Two different scenes in the same illustration:
In the foreground, don Antonio Moreno shows the enchanted head to don Quixote, Sancho, his wife and some friends. Accurate to Cervantes' text, the head has the shape of a Roman bust. In the background, a previous scene: don Quixote in Barcelona with a parchment on his back and his name written in it. Rich and bourgeois setting. |
Notes | 1 - Same plate by Bouttats first used for Amberes: Verdussen, 1672 - 1673 (first represention of the episode). |
