Commentary | Don Quixote observes one of the dances in Camacho's wedding; "También le pareció bien otra que entró de doncellas hermosísimas [...]. Guiábalas un venerable viejo y una anciana matrona [...]. Hacíales el són una gaita zamorana" (20:2).
Well-accurate composition to Cervantes' text, but not the setting. Court scene in keeping with Coypel's French style. The stylized dancing shepherdesses and the bagpipes player are quite remarkable. Drawing and engraving of great quality. |
