Commentary | Don Quixote tries to punish Sancho hitting him with his lance because the squire has preferred Micomicona's beauty to Dulcinea's.
Micomicona (Dorotea) and the priest try to prevent don Quixote from doing it. Drawing and engraving are quite acceptable for figures, not for setting (undetailed); the architecture in the background (inn?) is unnecessary. |
Notes | 1 - Illustration designed by Obregón (?), not copied after previous editions.
2 - Savery´s illustration about this same episode (Dordrecht: Savery, 1657; Bruselas: Mommarte, 1662; and Amberes: Verdussen, 1672-73) is different. |
