Commentary | Well-known scene; don Quixote kneels down before a peasant girl introduced by Sancho as Dulcinea.
From the whole edition, this illustration has the most "careless" and "free" drawing/engraving; the effects are quite interesting (see the faces of the three peasant girls, almost deformed). Don Quixote's expression, almost in ecstasy, is remarkable too. |
