Commentary | Don Quixote, knelt down before the innkeeper, who holds a sword and one book, is knighted at the inn; doña Tolosa and doña Molinera fitting don Quixote with his sword and spurs; also a boy holding a candle and two more figures.
Bad night representation; only the candle suggests the night. Drawing and engraving are acceptable, but naive. |
Notes | 1 - Inverted copy after London: Hodgkin, 1687 with a new vertical format.
2 – Similar to Bouttats’ plate (Amberes: Verdussen, 1672-73). |
