Commentary At night, during dinner, don Quixote begins his speech about arms and letters.
Cervantes gives a very detailed description of the distribution of characters around the table (don Quixote, Micomicona, Luscinda, Zoraida, Cardenio, don Fernando, the captive, the barber and the priest), but Johannot/Heredia does not follow it in a very accurate way (only placing don Quixote at the head of the table with Dorotea by his side).
Notes 1 - Reprint of the original lithograph (Mexico: Masse y Decaen; I. Cumplido, 1842) after Johannot's design (Paris: Dubochet, 1836-37).
