Commentary | Reference to the dialogue between don Quixote and don Diego de Miranda; don Quixote describes poetry as "una doncella tierna y de poca edad, y en todo estremo hermosa, a quien tienen cuidado de enriquecer, pulir y adornar otras muchas doncellas, que son todas las otras ciencias, y ella se ha de servir de todas, y todas se han de autorizar con ella" (16:2).
Image resolved with great delicacy. |
Notes | 1 - Same illustration and wooden block first used for Paris: Dubochet, 1836-37. |
