Commentary Sancho, don Quixote and the canon talks about the county that don Quixote has promised to Sancho; "y no repararé en tanto más cuanto, sino que luego me desistiré de todo, y me gozaré mi renta como un duque" (50:1).
Johannot has represented Sancho half-dressed as a Duke (with crown and fur cloak) half-dressed as a squire, creating a parodical image.
Notes 1 - Same illustration and wooden block first used for Paris: Dubochet, 1836-37.
