Commentary | During his penance in Sierra Morena, don Quixote carves some verses on the bark of the trees and on the fine sand; "Hirióle amor con su azote, / No con su blanda correa, / Y en tocándole el cogote, / Aquí lloró don Quixote / Ausencias de Dulcinea / Del Toboso" (26:1).
The allegorical representation becomes specially funny when reading the verses. |
