Commentary | Johannot offers us the two versions of this episode; first, the "reality" imagined by don Quixote: the armies of the Emperor Alifanfarón and of the King Pentapolín of the bare arm.
The illustration is masterly; hundreds of knights perfectly armed and prepared for the battle (there is no more than a half dozen of knights well detailed, but the impression of a larger army is very well suggested). Remarkable engraving. |
