Commentary | This illustration, the previous and the next are well-known since Savery (Dordrecht: Savery, 1657); Johannot has divided the episode, traditionally represented in one only scene, in three.
Now, Vivaldo gets ready to read Grisóstomo's song. Grisóstomo's corpse surrounded by shepherds (some of them knelt, with sobbing faces), don Quixote, Ambrosio and Vivaldo; quite dramatic scene. |
