Commentary | Alonso Quijano talks about chivalry novels to the barber, maese Nicolás, and the priest.
Scene resolved with great naturalism; don Quixote, standing and holding a book, with gesture of discussing with the barber about which one is the best knight (barber's gesture is remarkable too); the priest observes don Quixote. Johannot's drawing has been masterlyly transfered to the wood matrix. |
Notes | 1 - Same illustration and wooden block first used for Paris: Dubochet, 1836-37. |
