Commentary | Well-known scene since Savery (Dordrecht: Savery, 1657); don Quixote and Sancho believe to fly riding Clavileño; several servants of the Duke pretend its flight with fires and bellows; from the right, the Duke and the Duchess observe them.
The drawing is clumsy, but the print results interesting because of some details (see the powerful and dark figure of Clavileño and Sancho's scared face). The night light has not been well-resolved. |
